IMS2011 Show news
WG18 (WR62) Waveguide switch (model 18336-000S0JL01) being operated under water in a fish tank. This demonstration was performed in the exhibition hall at the IMS2011 conference in Baltimore, MD in June 2011. Flann has been making waveguide switches for the test and measurement market for many years, but these are designed for ultra-high repeatibility in controlled conditions. The new range of system switches is designed for very high reliability in harsh environments without any protection from the elements - they will even work under water! Over the week-long exhibition, the switch clocked up over 400,000 successful actuations.
